Importance of one-on-one
At Dyslexia Stepping Stones, every student is a gift and treated like the fantastic and unique individual they indeed are. The majority of dyslexic students think they are all alone as they struggle academically through school. However, 1 in 5 students or 15-20% of the population have a language-based learning disability; Dyslexia affects nearly the same percentage of male and female. Unfortunately, many students and even adults go undiagnosed and do not receive the help needed to be successful in school and life.
Through one-on-one academic therapy sessions, students learn critical academic skills; self-confidence is strengthened as they begin to overcome obstacles that have been holding them back. It is gratifying to see students emerge from their shell as they start to feel a sense of accomplishment and success.
My goal is to assure my students that they are not alone in this journey. Although the struggles dyslexics face are valid, it does not mean that literacy is unobtainable. I am here to encourage, support, and to reveal to my students that learning, even though it may have been a challenge so far, with the right tools, can be rewarding and fun with a highly successful outcome. It is my greatest joy to have found a tutoring system that has impressive results when so many others have failed.
